20140802 - What's with the new hosts?

Post date: Aug 1, 2014 11:31:59 PM

We're hosting the net slightly differently. If you listen for a while, you'll notice that there are different hosts, and to make it worse, it seems to be changing all the time. This is true, but it's not scary, not hard, in fact, it gives everyone a go - if they feel up to it.

How does it work?

That's pretty easy. Someone, generally Onno VK6FLAB, will start off the 'net. We'll gather callers as we go and we end up with a list of stations. We'll go through the list, one at a time, with VK6FLAB being net-control.

Once we've done the list once, VK6FLAB will hand net-control duties to the next station, something like: "VK6XYZ, tag, you're it."

They'll go through the list and when it comes back to them, they'll hand net-control to the next station and so on.

What if I don't want to host?

If duties are handed to you and you don't want to play, you can speak up and we'll move to the next person. That way you don't have to feel pressured into being the net-control. We do encourage you to try.

It's a great way to learn and we don't mind mistakes.

To play, you should have a piece of paper and a pen, or a photographic memory, so you know what the list looks like.
