Example
This is an example of a (fictitious) F-troop to give you an idea of how it all works. Note that if you think of this as a spoked wheel with the controller in the middle, then you get a good sense of the sequence of events.
This is vk6flab, good morning and welcome to F-troop. Last week we had a great turn-up, so let's see who's awake and raring to go. First up, if you're an F-call and you think you're ready to say hello, just announce your call-sign, one at a time, and I'll take care of the rest. This is vk6flab listening for F-calls.
vk6fame
vk6f {garbled} jim
vk6fivn
This is vk6flab, thanks for the calls. I heard vk6fame, then there was a mix-up, two stations at the same time, I heard an f-call and I think there was vk6fjim, then I heard vk6fivn. This is vk6flab, listening to the station I missed.
vk6fjon
This is vk6flab, thanks for that vk6fjon. Are there any other F-calls who want to announce their presence this morning? Don't be shy, we don't bite. This is vk6flab listening for F-calls.
...
Nothing heard. Ok, are there any other stations who would like to call in this morning? This is vk6flab listening for stations who would like to participate in F-troop this morning.
vk6wj
vk6fdx
This is vbk6flab, thanks for the calls. I heard vk6wj, vk6fdx. One more call for any stations wanting to announce their presence this morning on F-troop. This is vk6flab listening for any stations who would like to participate in F-troop this morning.
...
Nothing heard. Ok, for those new to F-troop, you'll only have to remember two call-signs this morning, yours and mine. I'm vk6flab, say again, I'm vk6flab and my name is Onno. I'll be handing over to each person in turn and all you need to do is wait for me to stop talking, wait for the repeater to beep, wait one second and then key your transmitter, say your call-sign and start talking. When you're done, say my call-sign, followed by yours and I'll take it from there. One more thing. If you're listening along and you have an itch to talk but you've not yet told us you're participating this morning, wait for a transmission to end and the repeater to beep, then just say your call-sign. I'll take it from there. If it's your turn to talk, and someone butted in, just acknowledge that you heard them and I'll take it up when I'm due to talk. Right, enough chatter already, vk6fame, Davis, what have you got for us this morning? Did you have any on-air fun during the week? vk6fame, this is vk6flab.
This is vk6fame, Hi all, this week ..... and that's all I have to tell right now. vk6flab, this is vk6fame.
vk6frsk
This is vk6flab, hello there vk6frsk, Ronald. Thanks for that Davis. We'll get back to you on your question about batteries in just a moment. Meanwhile, vk6fjon, John, how did you go with the portable field day? vk6fjon, this is vk6flab.
...
The sequence would continue, vk6fjon, vk6flab, vk6fjim, vk6flab, vk6fivn, vk6flab, vk6wj, vk6flab, vk6fdx, vk6flab, vk6frsk, vk6flab, vk6fame, vk6flab, vk6fjon, etc.
